GUVS seeks entries in an OPEN CALL for  its “4M SPACE.”  We are looking for installation proposals and are open to artists, designers, creators regardless of age, gender, race who are currently residing in South Korea.  Installations can be composed of but not limited to videos, paintings, multimedia, photography, sculpture, conceptual, light and site specific works.    

GUVS는 오픈콜을 통해서  4M SPACE 의 외부 작가를 모집합니다. 

저희는 현재 한국에서 거주하는 예술가, 디자이너, 

그리고 창작자 혹은 큐레이터의 설치 제안을 찾고 있습니다. (나이와 성별 , 인종 그리고 국적은  관계 없습니다.)

모집분야: 비디오, 그림, 멀티미디어, 사진, 조각 등 예술계 전 분야 

This open call is open on a revolving basis, with 4 exhibitions held each year.  Each installation will be showcased for 2-3 months at GUVS in Heyri Art Village.

이 오픈콜은 매 년 4번, 분기별로  다른  전시로 진행될 예정이며, 따라서 두 세 달 정도의 전시기간을 갖습니다. 

Although more catered towards emerging and mid-career artists, persons at any stage of the career are welcomed to apply.

GUVS is a contemporary lifestyle company.  Through its OPEN MARKET events and GUVS heyri, it sources and releases contemporary and modernist designer / vintage pieces, collaborates with like-minded brands and artists for events at its Heyri location and runs projects that promote creativity, community and sustainability.  

GUVS는 필라델피아에서 작은 빈티지 가구점으로 시작한 , 디자인/아트/라이프 스타일 회사이며, 창고에서 열리는 오픈마켓과 갤러리와 상점을 겸하고 있는 파주 헤이리  사옥을 통해 100년에 걸친 주목할 만한 가구를  소개하고 판매하고  있으며, 

실험성과 독창성을 가진 브랜드 및 아티스트와 협업하여, 창의성, 그리고 지역사회의 유대와 지속가능성을 모색하고 있는 브랜드입니다. 

4M Space is a 4 metered space between the 1st floor retail space and the 2nd floor gallery space.  The space was created to showcase various installations.

4M SPACE 는 높이가 4M 인 1층의 소매 매장과 2층의 갤러리를  연결해 주는 작지만, 강한 호소력이 있는 공간으로, 어디에도 속하지 않는 비밀스러운 장소를 만들고 싶은 의도로 설계되었습니다. GUVS 에 속해 있지만,  저희의 영업적 이익이나 , 특정한 스타일 그리고 시대나 장르에 국한되지 않고 다양하고 실험적인 에너지가 오갈 수 있는 곳입니다.

Q: I am a student, can I apply? 학생인데 지원해도 괜찮을까요?

A: Of course! 그럼요!

Q: Is there a submission fee? 출품비가 있나요?

A: No, and we don’t plan on changing that. 없습니다. 

Q: Will I be notified even if I am not accepted?  채택되지 못하면 통보해 주나요?

A: Only accepted submissions will be notified, but please keep in mind that all submissions are properly reviewed and stored for possible future shows.  

선정된 분에게만 연락을 드릴 예정이지만, 모든 제출작은 세심히 검토될 예정이며, 

잘 보관 되었다가 추후 다른 전시를 위해서도  연락 드릴 수도 있습니다. 

Q: Is there a certain style you prefer? 선호하는 특정한 스타일이 있나요?

A: Yes, but in general we hope it speaks on contemporary issues, emotions and aesthetics.  We would love it to open dialogue and create a space without prejudice and negativity.  예 있습니다. 동시대를 살아가는 우리들을 대변해 줄 수 있는 이슈나 감정 그리고  미의식을 반영하고 있었으면 하고, 어떤 편견이나 부정성 없이 이야기할 수 있는 주제였으면 좋겠습니다.
